Split Head Hammers

For applications where the surface of the workpiece must not be damaged, such as when pounding pegs into wood or installing panel rivets in plastic, choose a soft-face or split-head hammer. Also known as replaceable face hammers, the head has two wide faces that distribute the force over a larger area, and replacement faces are available in a range of materials to adapt the tool for almost any workpiece. Use the same type of face for both sides, or use a different type of face on each side to create a multipurpose tool.

Soft Face

Change the faces on these soft-face mallets by unscrewing the current faces and screwing in different ones (sold separately). Replacement faces (sold separately) are available in a range of materials to adapt the tool for different workpieces and applications. Use the same type of face on both sides, or use a different type of face on each side to create a multipurpose tool.

Split Head

Allowing for faster face changes than a soft-face hammer, these split-head hammers improve productivity in applications where the hammer's faces will be changed often. Loosen the nut at the base of the hammer's head to remove and install faces, and tighten the nut to secure the faces in the tool. Replacement faces (sold separately) are available in a range of materials to adapt the tool for different workpieces and applications. Use the same type of face on both sides, or use a different type of face on each side to create a multipurpose tool.
