Pipe & Conduit Thread Taps

Durable pipe and conduit thread taps create or repair internal (female) threads in pipe, conduit, and fittings so they form a pressure-tight seal when connected to pipe, conduit, and fittings with external (male) threads. They are suitable for hand tapping applications using a tap wrench or machine tapping applications using a drill, lathe, CNC machine, or similar machine.

Thread Repair Carbon Steel Taps

Use these carbon steel taps to repair internal threads for a secure fit when installing a male threaded fastener or part. Carbon steel is less wear-resistant than high speed steel or cobalt and is not recommended for creating new threads in a hole. Carbon steel taps are suitable for manual thread-repair applications.

These taps have a TiN (titanium nitride) coating that provides good temperature resistance and wear protection and provides a smooth surface on the tool that prevents chips from sticking to the cutting edge, helping to extend the life of the tool. Interrupted Thread Taps

These pipe taps have an odd number of flutes and an interrupted thread pattern in which every other tooth has been removed from the cutting edge. This reduces the amount of torque created during tapping and allows the tool to remove heavy chips from the hole more efficiently than taps with a standard thread pattern.
