Manual Winches

Manual Winches

Pull heavy items without electricity or another power supply. Manual winches use a rotating handle and lever arm to turn the gears for lighter duty applications such as loading vehicles or items onto trailers as well as shifting loads in construction or landscaping applications. Winches are typically used for pulling applications, and should not be used for lifting unless specified.

For winch sizing, a general guideline is to choose a winch line with 1.5 times the breaking strength of the winch, and to choose a winch hook at least 1.5 times the breaking strength of the line. However, application and other variables can influence the breaking strength you need. All winches should have a minimum of 5 wraps of line around the reel during use. The capacity of the winch decreases as more layers of line are wrapped around the reel.

Fast-Reeling Spur Gear for Pulling

Highly efficient and fast turning, these winches are driven by spur gears, which consist of a small gear driving a large gear that allows them to reel in items quickly. They have a ratcheting handle and freewheeling capability for fast unspooling. Best for use in horizontal pulling applications, these winches have no mechanical brake and should not be used for lifting operations.

Fast-Reeling Spur Gear with Strap for Pulling

Quickly reel in loads without worrying about kinks in your line using these spur gear winches with strap. The webbing strap is strong, flexible, and non-marring, and wraps cleanly around the reel. These winches can be used indoors and outdoors, although the webbing can degrade quicker than wire rope when exposed to prolonged UV rays. Spur gears, which consist of a small gear that drives a large gear, make these winches highly efficient and fast turning. Winches have a ratcheting handle and freewheeling capability for fast unspooling. Best for use in horizontal pulling applications, these winches have no mechanical brake and should not be used for lifting operations.

Precise-Control Worm-Gear for Pulling

Driven by a screw-shaped worm and worm gear, these winches are a good choice for precision pulling applications, as well as provide added safety as the loads will not shift in the reverse direction of the pull. They typically have higher gear ratios than spur gear winches for less manual effort, and are slower moving for more control over the load.

Fast-Reeling Spur Gear for Lifting & Pulling

With a mechanical brake to control the load and prevent it from reversing, these spur gear winches can be used in lifting operations in addition to pulling. Spur gears, which consist of a small gear that drives a large gear, make these winches highly efficient and fast turning. They include a ratcheting handle for easy reeling.

Precise-Control Worm-Gear for Lifting & Pulling

For precision pulling and lifting applications, these worm gear winches include a mechanical brake for excellent load control. They are driven by a screw-shaped worm and worm gear, which won't allow them to shift in reverse direction to the pull for added safety. They typically have higher gear ratios than spur gear winches so they require less manual effort.
