Elastomeric Sleeve Flexible Shaft Couplings

Elastomeric Sleeve Flexible Shaft Couplings

These three-piece shaft couplings consist of two metal flanges or hubs with a flexible elastomer sleeve, or donut, in between that compensates for angular misalignment (shafts are set at an angle to each other), parallel misalignment (shafts are misaligned but parallel), or axial misalignment (shafts are pulled apart or pushed together). The rubber-like sleeve can also absorb vibrations, shock, and torsional (or twisting) loads.

Elastomeric sleeve flexible shaft couplings don't need lubrication and are good for use on fans, blowers, compressors, electric motors, pumps, and other continuous-motion equipment. Internal teeth on the flanges mate with external teeth on the sleeve to effectively transmit torque between shafts. When the sleeve becomes worn or damaged, it can be replaced with a new one.

Type J Flanges

Match these Type J flanges with Type JE-JES-JN-JNS or E-N sleeves. Their precision-machined outside face lets you align the coupling without requiring special tools. They slip fit onto standard shafts and are secured with set screws, which grip into the shaft for a tight hold.

Type SC Flanges & Hubs

Span wide gaps between shaft ends with Type SC spacer hubs and flanges. They are compatible with all sleeve types, slip fit onto standard shafts, and are secured with set screws, which grip into the shaft for a tight hold. Hubs and flanges should be paired together for use, except for size 4JSC, which has an integrated hub-and-flange design.

Type B Flanges

Quickly install or remove these Type B couplings, which are secured to the shaft with a compatible bushing instead of a set screw. Use them with Type JE-JES-JN-JNS and E-N sleeves.

Type JE-JES-JN-JNS Sleeves

These one-piece sleeves are compatible with all flange types. Type JE and JN are solid sleeves for use where there's sufficient spacing between shaft ends. Type JES and JNS are split sleeves, so they're easier to install when shaft ends are close together.

Type E-N Sleeves

Use Type E and Type N sleeves with any flange type. Their two-piece design eases installation when shaft ends are close together, and the included retaining ring securely holds the pieces together after assembly.

Type H-HS-U Sleeves

Transmit up to four times more power than neoprene or EPDM sleeves with these Type H-HS-U sleeves. They can be used with Type S and SC flanges but shouldn't be used as direct replacements for EPDM or neoprene sleeves.

Type H and U are one-piece solid sleeves for use where there's sufficient spacing between shaft ends. Type HS sleeves are two-piece split sleeves, so they're easier to install when shaft ends are close together.
