Radial Ball Bearings

Radial Ball Bearings

The most commonly used style of rolling bearing, radial ball bearings have a row of balls that glide on curved raceways between the bearing's internal surfaces. They are recommended for applications where parts are under radial loads (where the load is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the bearing) but can also tolerate low to moderate axial, or thrust, loads (where the load is parallel to the axis of rotation of the bearing).

Ball bearings have spherical rolling elements that distribute loads over a small surface area, and they typically create less heat and friction and tolerate higher speeds than roller bearings. To ensure proper functioning, bearings should be lubricated regularly.

General Purpose with Normal Clearance

Suitable for most common applications in which there is only a radial load, these bearings have an internal clearance for normal mounting and operating conditions.

General Purpose with High Clearance

Ideal for general applications, these bearings have a high internal clearance suitable for interference fits and high operation temperatures where the bearing may expand.

Wide

Also known as cartridge bearings, these bearings have a wider housing than the general-purpose bearings and can be entirely removed and replaced in a machine component such as a bicycle hub. They are prelubricated and permanently sealed to help exclude moisture and dirt.
