Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers

The most widely used type of heat exchanger for industrial processes, shell-and-tube heat exchangers provide a high amount of heat transfer for their volume and can be easily serviced. They consist of a bundle of tubes enclosed in a cylindrical shell. Two fluids of different initial temperatures flow through the unit, one through the tubes and another through the shell, allowing heat to be transferred between them. These exchangers can be used to condense steam in turbine power plants, control the temperature of hydraulic fluids, and cool process liquids in petrochemical plants, among many other applications.
