About Bellows Flexible Shaft Couplings

Featuring a flexible accordion-like section at the center of the coupling, these bellows flexible shaft couplings are a good choice for connecting shafts in applications where there is angular misalignment (shafts are set at an angle to each other), parallel misalignment (shafts are misaligned but parallel), or axial misalignment (shafts are pulled apart or pushed together) between the shafts.

These couplings allow minimal backlash (or play) between the shafts, and the bellows design helps absorb some vibration while providing good rigidity in moderate- to high-torque applications. Suitable for applications with high speeds, bellows flexible shaft couplings are often used in equipment such as encoders, resolvers, servomotors, robots, instruments, and machine tools. They do not require lubrication.
