About Machine Reamers

Sometimes called chucking reamers, machine reamers are placed in the chuck of a drill press, lathe, screw machine, or similar machining tool to enlarge, smooth, or dimension a drilled hole to a tight tolerance. They usually have a 45° chamfer to help ensure accurate entry into the hole.

The most common style of reamer, straight-flute reamers push chips forward into the hole and are recommended for reaming through holes.
