About Jaw Flexible Shaft Couplings

A flexible spider insert joins the hubs of these jaw flexible shaft couplings and acts as a cushion between them to absorb shock and vibration, which reduces the force of impact loads. These couplings can accommodate small amounts of angular misalignment (shafts are set at an angle to each other), parallel misalignment (shafts are misaligned but parallel), or axial misalignment (shafts are pulled apart or pushed together) when the coupling is connected between two shafts.

Spider inserts can be replaced when they become worn or damaged, and the coupling will continue to operate even if the spider insert fails, allowing the drive system to be properly shut down before replacing the spider. You can exchange the current insert in a coupling for another insert of the same style but in a different material to adapt the coupling for a variety of applications. Jaw flexible shaft couplings do not require lubrication and are commonly used on semiconductor, solar energy, and medical equipment.
