About Gauge Blocks
Frequently used in tool making and to check other measuring tools, these blocks are produced to tight tolerances and can be used to measure with extreme precision and accuracy. While often used to measure distances between parallel surfaces, they are also used to verify the length of other measuring tools, such as micrometers.
Keep a set of gauge blocks of varying sizes on hand to handle a variety of measuring jobs. Similarly shaped blocks can be put together, called wringing, for even more versatility.
