About Round-Tooth Timing Belts
Use round-tooth timing belts, also known as HTD or H-type timing belts, in high-torque applications. The belt's teeth have a curved profile that provides more strength and produces less backlash than trapezoidal-tooth timing belts, improving torque transmission. Round-tooth timing belts are often found on power tools, postal equipment, centrifuges, sewing machines, ticket dispensers, robotics, vending machines, and vacuum cleaners.
These belts can be installed on round-tooth pulleys with HTD, RPP, GT, and GT2 sprockets. When replacing a timing belt on a pulley, make sure the pitch and width of the belt are compatible with the pulley. In general, timing belts with higher pitches provide more strength for demanding applications.
The 14M series has a 14 mm pitch for larger teeth that are set farther apart than the 8M series. A 14 mm pitch also provides high strength for demanding applications.
